Water quality compliance of reservoirs and towers – 2010
Water quality overall complies 100% with national standards.
Water quality is also being submitted to Department of Water Affairs. Compliance can be viewed on www.dwa.gov.za/bluedrop. Browse the status of your Drinking Water Quality in your area on www.dwa.gov.za/mywater. Type the area and Krugersdorp or Mogale (eg Kagiso Mogale) into the search block and Go. A green tick indicates that the samples taken at the sampling points are compliant to the SANS 241 standard. A red exclamation mark indicates that the samples are non-compliant.
This link will enable you to access the microbial water quality status of Mogale City's water sampling point as well as for the rest of the country. Microbial water quality is the state of the water with respect to the absence (good water quality) or presence (poor water quality) of microorganisms. Microbial water quality is usually indicated by reporting the count (number) of indicator organisms present in a given volume of water. The drinking water quality standards (SANS 241) requires a compliance of 97% for water to be microbiologically acceptable. These percentages are calculated as averages over the last 3 months from data received.
If unsure from which reservoir/distribution network water is being received in a specific area, please refer to the attached document.
