Good infrastructure, plenty of facilities, scenic suburbs and townships with strong heritage credentials all make Mogale City a great place to live.
It is a diverse region, with rural countryside, a number of towns, and business and industrial developments.
The municipality includes towns such as Krugersdorp, Munsieville, Tarlton and Azaadville, as well as industrial areas such as Chamdor, Factoria and Boltonia. It has much to offer residents – attractive residential areas, excellent schools, state-of-the-art medical facilities, and employment opportunities.
Mogale City’s prime residential areas are also expanding, with the building up of new prestige northern areas. Property prices are seen as relatively reasonable and land is available for development.
Mogale City has a wide range of facilities for residents, including:
It is also the seat of various regional, financial, governmental and educational institutions.
A wide range of people live in Mogale City.
There are exclusive suburbs such as Noordheuwel, Rangeview and Rant en Dal, which are set in scenic hills and valleys. Residential neighbourhoods are quiet and children can play outdoors. Some of the houses in and around Krugersdorp were built more than 80 years ago, while other more modern homes reflect the glitz and glamour of a vibrant city life.
Kagiso and Munsieville are Mogale City townships.
Munsieville is one of the oldest townships in Gauteng and has a very rich heritage. In fact, Mogale City is proud to say that Archbishop Desmond Tutu, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, once lived here. Tutu grew up, and later taught, in Munsieville. Today he holds the Freedom of Mogale City.
Since the early 1900s, Azaadville, with its largely Indian population, has brought a touch of “spice” to Mogale City. It, too, has a rich history, and Gandhi participated in the original inhabitants’ fight against forced removal.
