Where is Mogale City?

Mogale City is situated in Gauteng, South Africa. The municipality represents the towns of Krugersdorp, Kagiso, Muldersdrift, Munsieville, Tarlton, Hekpoort, Magaliesburg, Azaadville, as well as the industrial areas including Chamdor, Factoria and Boltonia.

The City offers stable, efficient and helpful local government, endless potential for investors, both in the industrial and commercial sectors, as well attractive residential areas, excellent schools, and state-of-the-art medical facilities. Mogale City's prime residential areas are also expanding, with the building up of the new prestige northern areas. Property prices are seen as relatively reasonable and land is available for development.

What is so special about Mogale City?

Mogale City works hard to live up to its slogan, "A Winning City" and is best represented by Mogale Tourism's slogan, "Mogale - the Treasure Chest of the West".

Last year Mogale City was voted the best customer-service municipality by the Sunday Times. It also won the Category B Municipality Section in the Bontle ke Botho, a cleaning and greening campaign held in Gauteng Province. Mogale City has also been nominated as one of the Top 300 Companies in South Africa for empowerment".

In 2003, Krugersdorp was the winner of Gauteng's Engen Town of the Year competition, beating Benoni, Kempton Park, Boksburg and Randfontein. Members of the public decide the winners of this competition by voting for their favourite places. The Magaliesburg claimed first place as Gauteng's Village of the Year, out competing Nigel, Grasmere, Bronkhorstspruit and Devon for the title.

What facilities does Mogale City have?

Mogale City has a wide range of facilities for its residents, including:
  • twenty-seven schools and educational institutions;
  • four hospitals;
  • an airfield;
  • a renowned athletic and cycling sports stadium;
  • a 1 400 hectare game reserve with luxury exclusive facilities and plenty of game;
  • dams with 14 hectares of water coverage;
  • five railway stations with 116 trains daily;
  • an 18-hole golf course;
  • an acclaimed cultural centre with modern facilities; and
  • an interesting museum.
It is also the seat of various regional, financial, governmental and educational institutions.

Who lives in Mogale City?

A wide range of people live in Mogale. There are exclusive suburbs such as Noordheuwel, Rangeview, and Rant en Dal, which are set in scenic hills and valleys. The residential neighbourhoods are quiet and children can play outdoors. Some of the houses in and around Krugersdorp were built more than 80 years ago, while other more modern homes reflect the glitz and glamour of a vibrant city life.

Kagiso and Munsieville are Mogale City townships. Munsieville is one of the oldest townships in Gauteng and has a very rich heritage. In fact, one of Mogale City's most famous residents is Archbishop Desmond Tutu, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Tutu, grew up and was later a teacher in Munsieville. Tutu, who headed the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, was honoured for his contribution towards a lasting peace in South Africa by receiving the Freedom of Mogale City.
