The Executive Mayor of Mogale City, Cllr Koketso Seerane will host a formal launch of the municipal court this Wednesday.

The municipal court, a first in the West Rand and fourth such facility in Gauteng, will give teeth to the municipal enforcement agencies as transgressors will face charges that range from illegal dumping, traffic violations, illegal signs, unlicensed trade etc.

The court will also provide relief to the local magisterial courts because the roll is always clogged leading to municipal cases being struck off the roll because of delays and other administrative challenges.

The launch will take place as follows:
Venue: Municipal Court, Cnr Church and Fountain Streets, Mogale City CBD (Opposite Home Affairs Office, off Commissioner Street)
Time: 9h00
Date: 9th October 2013 (Wednesday)

The Department of Justice has already appointed a magistrate and prosecutor for the court.

“We need to clampdown on lawlessness around the city so that we maintain our leading position amongst the most livable cities in Gauteng,” says the executive mayor, Koketso Seerane. “We need to ensure that the property we hold in trust on behalf of the people is protected for posterity therefore this institution will be more than handy in the quest to achieve our objectives,” he added.
