Mogale City and Rustenburg municipalities join forces to deal with drug trafficking

The Executive Mayor of Mogale City Naga Lipudi will host his Rustenburg counterpart Mpho Khunou and West Rand District Municipality executive mayor Boyce Maneli in the Mayoral Chamber on Tuesday, 20 February 2018 to discuss areas of cooperation to combat drug trafficking in both cities.

The cities experienced outbreaks of community unrest over drug and human trafficking which caught national attention. Mogale City is currently in a process with Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula of dealing decisively with this scourge in the city.

The three leaders will share experiences and map out a way forward to completely shut out traffickers, considering that their modus operandi is always to relocate their operations when shut down in one area by the law enforcement agencies. The meeting will be attended by the West Rand District Municipality, the South African Police Services and Home Affairs. Mogale City and Rustenburg are neighbours, with the former being Gauteng’s entrance into the latter in North West.
