The municipality, in terms of Section 21 (I) (i) of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act (SPLUMA) has identified and prioritised the areas of Hekpoort, Tarlton, Muldersdrift as well as Magaliesburg for the development and review of detailed precinct plans.

Precinct plans are primarily aimed at arranging land use and infrastructure associated with the needs of specific communities within administrative regions. It integrates transportation, environment, education, economic development, social, residential development, and other developmental requirements.

In 2020, the aforementioned precinct plans were drafted and a public consultation with various stakeholders to determine what works well in these areas and how this can be enhanced commenced on 14 October and ended on 30 November. However due to the Covid-19 pandemic, engagement sessions could only be conducted in smaller focus groups and virtual meetings depending on the community structures’ preferences. After 30 November 2020, all inputs received were incorporated into a draft plan that was tabled and at a Council sitting on 1 August 2021 where a resolution was granted to publish the drafts precinct plans for a final 60-day public participation in terms of the city’s 2018 SPLUMA By-law.

Accordingly, the below notice serves to invite public comments and/or inputs on the final Revised Draft Precinct plans once more to ensure that all comments received during the first consultation process are well addressed.

Copies of the precinct plans will lie open for inspection during normal office hours for 60 days from 1 December 2021 at the following locations:

  • Department Economic Development Services: Office of the Manager: Development Planning, First Floor, Furn City Building, cnr Human & Monument Streets, Krugersdorp
  • Mogale City website
  • Main libraries in Muldersdrift, Tarlton, Hekpoort and Magaliesburg

Relevant members of the public are encouraged to provide public input and comment, which is critical in shaping the development our city.
