FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SERVICE DISRUPTION DUE TO COSATU STRIKE ACTION

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) wishes to apologise to residents and businesses affected by the disruption of certain municipal services due to today’s (28 April 2022) strike action by the Congress of South African Trade Unions (affiliate SAMWU).

This strike action will likely have an impact on some waste collection schedule, Licensing Centre services, sanitation services and street cleaning routes, as well as other frontline services and Council venues.

Although normal refuse removal services will hopefully resume next Monday, residents and businesses are advised to stick to the Council’s normal schedule for the remainder of the week to avoid further backlog.

This therefore means that areas not serviced today (Thursday) will only be covered in the upcoming week and we urge affected residents to keep their refuse bins in their yards until next week.

However, the majority of services are expected to operate as normal, or with minimal disruption, and Council is working hard to minimise the impact on residents and businesses.

We wish to apologise to residents for the delays that some may be experiencing.
